Connected to the Seville Cathedral is La Giralda. The tower, the former minaret of the Grand Mosque, had undergone the same “Christianization” as the Real Alcazar and the Catedral De Sevilla.
FUN FACT: Salah or prayer is one of the five pillars of Islam; the other four being Shahada (declaration of faith), Zakat (almsgiving), Sawm (fasting), and Hajj (pilgrimage). The minaret was used by the muezzin (prayer caller) to remind Muslim followers of their five daily prayer committments (adhan).
