VIRTUE. A good moral quality in a person, or the general quality of being morally good. Students at a madrasa (Arabic for “educational institution”), like the Madrasa Ben Yousef in Marrakesh, were expected to be, among other things, virtuous, respectful of their peers and teachers, and obedient.
